EMDR THERAPY & SUPPORT FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

Healing trauma at the root—so it stops controlling your present.

When your body keeps the score, EMDR helps you rewrite it.

When the past doesn’t stay in the past, it can show up in ways that feel out of your control. You might know you're safe now, but your body tells a different story—constant hypervigilance, emotional numbness, intrusive memories, or an overwhelming sense of being on edge. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps process and heal trauma at its source, offering relief where talk therapy alone may fall short.

We specialize in working with first responders and individuals facing PTSD, cumulative stress, and unresolved trauma. With a deep understanding of the unique challenges of high-stakes professions, we create a safe, structured environment to help you reset your nervous system, reclaim your sense of safety, and move forward with more clarity and control.

WHAT IS EMDR THERAPY?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps you reprocess disturbing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming or defining. Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), EMDR helps your brain “digest” painful experiences that may have gotten stuck, reducing their emotional charge and helping you feel more present, calm, and in control.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn’t require you to retell every detail of your trauma. Instead, it taps into your brain’s natural healing process—allowing old wounds to fully resolve and lose their grip on your daily life.

How We Work

We don’t jump straight into trauma reprocessing. We take the time to make sure you feel safe, grounded, and prepared. In the early stages of EMDR, we focus on stabilization—helping you build tools for regulation and resilience. From there, we move at your pace, targeting memories or beliefs that are keeping you stuck and gently helping the brain do what it already knows how to do: heal.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Client-Centered

We take pacing seriously and never push you beyond what feels tolerable. You stay in control of the process.

Expert Readiness Assessment

Not everyone is ready to jump into reprocessing. We’ll help determine your readiness and build a strong foundation before beginning.

Integrated Care

EMDR doesn’t stand alone. We draw on other modalities—like IFS, somatic awareness, or attachment-based work—to support your whole system.

Real-World Experience

With years of experience supporting clients with complex trauma, court involvement, and high-stress roles (like first responders), we understand trauma that’s layered, chronic, or relational.

THE PROCESS

Step 1 | Complimentary 15-minute phone Consultation

We start with a free 15-minute phone consultation to learn more about what’s bringing you in, answer questions, and make sure we’re a good fit.

Step 2 |  Initial Session

In your first session, we’ll explore what’s happening in your relationship, your shared goals, and what each of you needs to feel safe and supported in therapy.

Step 3 | The work begins

We typically meet weekly or every other week. Sessions are focused, interactive, and goal-oriented. We use proven tools to help you strengthen communication, repair ruptures, and reconnect emotionally.

  • It varies. Some clients find significant relief in just a few sessions, while others with complex trauma may benefit from longer-term work. We’ll discuss expectations early on.

  • Possibly. EMDR can be a great starting point, but we’ll first assess your readiness to ensure the foundation is strong before beginning reprocessing.

  • Yes, EMDR can be done effectively via Telehealth using specially designed bilateral tools. We’ll make sure it’s the right fit before proceeding virtually.
